We understand that referring a patient outside your practice requires trust. Our team includes three board-certified periodontists, Dr. Rana Shahi, Dr. Priscilla Young, and Dr. Ivan Yi, who each completed advanced specialty training beyond dental school focused specifically on the gums, supporting bone, and dental implants. When you refer a patient to our Wilshire Blvd office, you can be confident they are receiving specialist-level care, not general dentistry with implants added on.
We treat every referred patient as an extension of your practice relationship with them, and we are committed to returning that patient to your care for their ongoing general dentistry once specialist treatment is complete.
How to Refer a Patient
Referring a patient to our office is simple. You can call our team directly, send a referral by fax or secure email, or have your patient contact us to schedule using your name as the referring provider. To help us prepare for the visit, it is helpful to include the following with your referral:
- Patient name, contact information, and reason for referral
- Relevant clinical findings, periodontal charting, or diagnosis if available
- Recent x-rays or 3D imaging, if you have them on file
- Any medical history or medication considerations relevant to treatment
- Your preferred method of receiving updates on the patient's treatment
No referral form is required to see a patient, though a completed referral card helps our team prepare and speeds up the first visit. Patients are also welcome to schedule directly and simply let our team know which doctor referred them.
How We Communicate Back to Your Office
Keeping referring doctors informed is a priority for our practice. After a patient's evaluation, our doctors provide a summary of clinical findings and the recommended treatment plan. Once treatment is complete, or at key milestones for longer cases such as implant placement, we send a follow-up update so you have a complete picture of the periodontal care your patient received. We are also happy to discuss a shared patient's case directly by phone whenever needed.

Our office manages the full range of periodontal and implant treatment, including gum disease and periodontal therapy, soft tissue and bone grafting, single and full-arch dental implants, crown lengthening, tooth extractions, and sedation for patients who need it.
